Quant Insights is back this July with a one day event focusing exclusively on the latest trends and insights in quantum computing. This event will be held online and will bring together some of the biggest names in quantitative finance.

As banks and financial firms prepare themselves for the quantum future, the emphasis has been on how quantum computers will speed up calculations and impact areas such as security. In this picture, quantum finance will be just like classical finance, only much faster. However the fields of economics and finance grew up in the era of classical computing, with its yes/no, 0 or 1 logic. The neoclassical economist William Stanley Jevons designed a “logic piano”; Von Neumann invented game theory but also the programmable computer; the Black-Scholes option-pricing algorithm first took off in part because it was available on a Texas Instruments calculator. Will quantum computers have a similarly galvanizing effect? In this session, David Orrell asks three experts how quantum ideas will change the way we think about quantitative finance.
